Halloween Resurrection is pretty much the whipping boy of the slasher genre. In my newest 'Revisited' special, we look a little closer and dig deep into this lambasted film in the Halloween franchise. I have a PO Box now! • The opening is unforgivable. Killing off Laurie, even though they planned it just sucks!! And no doubt, Busta Rymes should not even be in this movie. All that being said, I still like it more than Halloween 5. At least I don't hate all the characters and Busta isn't as irritating at Tina. And I like it more than Rob Zombies Halloween movies. I watch it every October and cringe every time Laurie dies. My favorites will always be Halloween, Halloween H20 and Halloween 2. Everything else is below that. Season of the Witch might even be 4th now. Wow! Good review though. I like hearing others thoughts on these movies that I have seen sooo many times.

  • Laurie's death was sad but poetic - 'Final Destination' undertones, plus Curtis' mother's famous murder scene eerily foreshadowed it. Curtis did seem burnt out, but it mirrored how Laurie was feeling. I thought her performance (though brief) was Oscar-worthy.

  • I like the camera tripod kill. I always figured it was an homage to the way the killer offs his victims in the 1960’s slasher film, Peeping Tom

  • The fact that this movie exists makes me annoyed. It ruined the ending of Halloween H20 (which was a nice definitive ending). Considering they planned this, it just annoys me more even more.

  • Honestly, I enjoyed this movie as a huge Halloween fan but I do agree that killing Laurie Strode in the first 5 mins of the movie was like ohh ok that sucked lol kind of moment, but I think this movie would have been much better without Tyra Banks and Busta Rhymes. I think he just made this movie worse than it actually is. I mean for the reasons you listed pretty much sums it up. L.L. Cool Jay in H20 was good, he's a pretty good actor I think he did a good job in that movie. I think Seed of Chucky was just beyond painful to watch, movie worse than that was Jason X though. I think it's close between that and Seed and the few you listed as far as each one horrible in each franchise. I look forward to the new Child's play reboot, even though it's getting lots of hate but people have to get over the fact that Don hasn't exactly taken Chucky in the best directly past 10 years and Chucky needs to feel scary again.

  • I think one of the main reasons why I love this film is the main reason that I like Batman Forever is that it's so funny and it takes itself so seriously the first two parts of the movie or like a traditional Halloween movie but the third part with Busta Rhymes just makes me laugh every time and I don't know why I just like this film

  • I just watched H20 and Resurrection last night. Yep...I still hate it. It gets worse every time I watch it. As I was watching it I couldn't help but get mad. No way Michael takes that crap. Even my wife said that he would have shoved that knife down Busta Rhyme's throat. Dude, I'm getting pissed right now just watching you talk about it. I would take Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation over Resurrection. It is better than Freddy's Dead and Jason Takes Manhattan though.

  • If Freddie was played by someone like Michael Jai White who was formally trained in the martial arts (as he was in real life) then he would have been a credible opponent for Myers. Busta Ryhmes "learning" from kung fu flicks is just stupid.

  • No, Seed of Chucky is the best of the worst here

  • So.....why does the paramedic not take off the mask? Why does he get thrown through a van window and get up like Michael does with the same body language? How is he able to survive getting squashed between a vehicle and a tree? I know everyone's saying that Halloween Resurrection was planned from the beginning during H20, but it honestly makes no sense whatsoever. It's one of the stupidest twists I've ever seen in a horror franchise. Whether or not they planned to keep things going after H20, they essentially ruined what was one of the greatest and more emotionally impactful cliffhangers of all time with Laurie decapitating Michael by forcing in a horrendously lazy misdirection for that scene. This movie is one terrible idea after another. The only good thing to come out of it was seeing Myers busts through a window to kill someone. Also, if I try to look at this as a Halloween parody, Busta Rhymes is pretty damn entertaining to watch.

  • Oh my god I forgot about that chainsaw scene. THE CRINGE!!!!! THE CRINGE OF IT ALL!!! Mehn, I haven't seen Halloween Resurrection since the year it went to home video. I remembered hating so much about it that I decided to never watch it again being a big Halloween fan. Unfortunately, for some reason, I own the DVD. I still to this day have no clue how and why I have this DVD in my Halloween collection. I must've been more collector crazy back then with my purchases.

  • Yeah Halloween Resurrection is not a perfect movie it’s not a good movie but it’s not as bad as people think it is I mean people have their different opinions but me I’m the exact opposite I just enjoy this movie for what it is I take it as a slasher film and as a Halloween film but for the amount of flaws it has there are some things I enjoy about it first off I liked the score I think it’s very atmospheric and dark sounding and I liked Brad Lorre as Michael Myers and I liked the mask and I thought the cinematography was really good a lot better than H2O’s because yeah the movie looks a little bit more darker and little bit more grittier and I thought some of the killers were brutal and it did have some creepy moments but other than that what I didn’t like about the movie was the characters the dialogue and how they tossed away Laurie strode like she never mattered but I know that Jamie Lee Curtis wanted her character to die anyways but for me it’s like come on she gets killed off way too soon and she couldn’t really put up a good fight with Michael Myers before she dies I would’ve appreciated that a little bit more if she didn’t die so soon but other than that Halloween resurrection for me it’s OK I like to watch it as just a time waster and I like to just have fun with it.

  • I actually really like the mask from Halloween Resurrection. I think if they just white out the eyebrows it would be better than the masks from H4, H5, H6 & H20. The mask in H4 looks like a mannequin. The mask in H5 looks like a farmer. The H6 mask looks too fat. The H20 mask is ok but I don’t like it because the has eye holes that are too big.

  • You know they already made a movie where Michael Myers stalks Loire around a hospital while killing people all along the way. It’s called Halloween 2.

  • Even though I don't like this argument, I wonder if this would be better received if it wasn't a Halloween movie. Change all the character names. If this is just some random slasher about people doing a webcast in a serial killer's childhood home then being killed. I feel this could be acceptable as some random horror movie and not viewed as the absolute worst horror movie ever.

  • This movie needs to die in the most brutal Myers kill ever. Total abomination.

  • Resurrection should have been a haunted house movie, take some elements from Dennis Etchison's idea in that Haddonfield have banned Halloween and want to forget what happened. But the Myers house is now haunted Myers ghost, some kids want to throw a Halloween party there and chaos ensues. Obviously you have him be a ghost who becomes physical once in the house, end the film with the Myers house been burned to a crisp. Thus ending the series.

  • Hey man, I rarely comment on youtube videos but I've watched and enjoyed all of your Halloween reviews. I'm a huge fan of the "big 3" franchises (well 5 if you count Psycho and Chucky), but the Halloween series has and always will be my favorite. That being said, I was never really a fan of Resurrection agree with what you said in your original review that a reboot should have been done after H20. If H20 included the one scene that was never filmed where there was a mention of the events of 4-6 and had a different actor/stuntman playing Michael, that would've been the perfect ending. I'm glad to have found your channel along with WWAM and Sinister Cinema, nice to know I'm not the only one in our generation still obsessed with old school slasher films lol. Can't wait til October 19!!

  • I will say this about Ressurection, and the Halloween franchise as a whole. As bad as some entries are, they never really jumped the shark. Sure Curse had too many supernatural elements, but it still felt grounded in what the series was. Compare that to something like Jason X

  • If you take the positive elements from this film, and the positive elements from H20, you could've had one really solid film

  • Looking back, it's kind of stupid for Laurie to even question to check to see if that's really Myers when he starts grabbing his head because he just broke through her cell door like a maniac, could a normal guy with a butcher knife, pretending to be Michael by wearing the mask and jumpsuit do that? So dumb.

  • 8:05 and a crumpled up picture of Josh Hartnett. Also it was Grace Andersen Sanitarium since Laurie had moved to California, far away from Illinois so definitely not Smith's Grove. Some of the original dialogue from the rooftop scene included Laurie telling Michael "but you would of never found my son. i made sure of that" from the behind the scenes/making of the movie. Would of been cool to keep it in the film just for continuity purposes even though we all know Josh Hartnett would of never returned anyway.

  • I know I'm probably in the minority of getting a lot of complaints from Halloween fans, but whatever I like this movie. I like the plot, I like some of the characters, I really like Michael Myers in this movie, the found footage theme for the film was a very nice touch, the score is very eerie in a way, I like the side plot with the teenagers at a Halloween party watching the main teens in the Myers house actually getting killed, And I thought the kills were pretty good (one of my favorite kills is with the camera guy getting stabbed in the neck). And most of all, we got Rick Rosenthal (the director of 1981's "Halloween II") returning many years later to direct this movie. Now I will admit, this movie is DEFINITELY not without its flaws because there are a few things that I didn't like. I don't really like Busta Rhymes in this movie (I mean come on, kung fu movies during Halloween? Who does that?!) It sucks that Laurie was killed at the beginning of the movie (imagine if she were watching Dangertainment and goes to the Myers house to fight Michael for round 2. That would have been awesome!) And finally, how does Michael come back after getting his head chopped off in "Halloween H20: twenty years later"? I'll tell you why. Money. Since Halloween H20 was a big hit in the box office they just had to make another one. Or maybe because the producer Moustapha Akkad was not happy that Michael Myers was finally killed, he wanted to bring him back and to assure the audience that no matter how hard you try, Michael Myers can never die. Because you can't kill the boogeyman. But am I glad he came back anyway? Yes, that's just me. Well anyway, that's how I feel about Halloween resurrection. If I were to rank this, I'd give it a Humdrum, where it's not perfect but at least watchable (well only if I'm bored or when I'm doing a Halloween marathon). Anyway, as always, awesome reviews and opinions on these films Lee and I can't wait for "Halloween 2018" (or "Halloween H40 as I like to call it") to come out this coming October!

  • One thing I've always wondered about Resurrection is how the fuck did Myers know to grab his head and give the exact same reaction as the paramedic in H20. He couldn't have witnessed it lol How did he know the other guy grabbed his head like that? He couldnt have so it's kind of a little movie mistake. And Laurie is smart she had to of known it was really Michael he was busting through doors and chasing her with a big knife. That whole scene was really stupid and makes no sense.

  • I liked how it went further into explaining how Michael lives on but I get where the people who dislike the movie are coming from. H20 Felt like it was good to end Michael and finally allow Laurie to relax from him. BUT there are some good stuff about the movie. 1. House is still there 2. Michael eats rats 3. The overalls and mask look pretty dope. (One of my favs. 4. Better than Halloween 5. (Fuck you Chris Baskott) but it has a lot of errors to it.
